SustainHealth: 2020 is the World Health Organisation “Year of the Nurse and Midwife”

The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as the “Year of the Nurse and Midwife,” in an effort to highlight the vital role nurses and midwives play within health services.

It has been predicted that we will need 9 million additional nurses and midwives by the year 2030 for universal health coverage. This campaign is particularly important given that nurses and midwives constitute more than 50% of the health workforce in many countries and also more than 50% of the shortfall in the global health workforce to 2030.

The SustainHealth team will be showing our support for WHO and their partners which include, the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), International Council of Nurses (ICN), Nursing Now and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in a year-long effort to celebrate the work of nurses and midwives, highlight the challenging conditions they often face, and advocate for increased investments in the nursing and midwifery workforce. For more information, visit the World Health Organization website  https://www.who.int/

SustainHealth Recruitment is calling out to all the nurses and midwives to partner with us and take part in contributing to economic development and supporting other sustainable development goals.
