Celebrating Our Nurses and Midwives: SustainHealth Morning Tea

At SustainHealth Recruitment, nurses and midwives are at the heart of so much of what we do. This year, we were pleased to mark International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses Day 2026 by welcoming some of our candidates into our new office for a special morning together.

International Day of the Midwife, recognised on 5 May, and International Nurses Day, celebrated on 12 May, provide an opportunity each year to recognise the people delivering care across hospitals, health services and communities around the world.

For our team, these occasions are particularly meaningful because we have the privilege of working with nurses and midwives throughout Australia every day.

Welcoming Our Candidates Into Our New Office

To celebrate, we invited some of our nursing and midwifery candidates to join the SustainHealth team for a morning at our new office.

It was an opportunity to connect away from the usual recruitment conversations and spend time with some of the healthcare professionals we have come to know through their careers and placements.

Our consultants regularly speak with candidates about contracts, career plans, travel, compliance and new opportunities. Meeting together in person allowed us to hear more about their experiences and recognise the work they do every day.

It was also a special way to welcome candidates into our new space and share another milestone for the SustainHealth team with the people who are such an important part of our community.

Recognising Nurses and Midwives Across Australia

Nurses and midwives work across an incredibly diverse range of healthcare environments. From metropolitan hospitals and aged care services to regional facilities and remote communities, their knowledge and care contribute to healthcare at every stage of life.

Through our work in nursing and midwifery recruitment, we see the commitment healthcare professionals bring to their roles and the different career journeys they choose.

Some are building long-term careers within one community, while others choose casual work, short-term contracts or rural and remote nursing to experience different healthcare environments and locations.

International Nurses Day and International Day of the Midwife give us an opportunity to recognise all of these journeys.

Thank You to Our Nurses and Midwives

Thank you to the candidates who joined us in our new office and to every nurse and midwife who has trusted SustainHealth to be part of their career.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate your work and support you throughout 2026 and beyond.

If you are a nurse or midwife looking for casual, contract, permanent, rural or remote healthcare opportunities, speak with our recruitment team about current roles across Australia.

Healthcare organisations looking for experienced nurses and midwives can also contact us to discuss their staffing requirements.
